Focus on Southeast Alberta

Southeast Alberta is a unique and innovative region filled with natural resources and passionate people. Together, these strengths can help move this region, this province, and this country forward.

Please watch the following video and consider these factors that will influence our collective future.

Social Demographics in Southeast Alberta are changing. Our population is growing and diversity is increasing. Young adults are leaving the region to pursue post-secondary education. Societal awareness and expectations around inclusivity, sustainability, and Indigenization are changing.

Economic Low oil and gas prices continue to impact provincial funding for education, but new industries are emerging. To fulfill our mandate, we must anticipate future demand and ensure our graduates have the skills to succeed.

Technological Technology shapes all aspects of our daily lives. Students will be entering a workforce that makes greater use of technology. Automation of jobs and rapid technological development is shifting the labour market.

Political With the newly elected UCP government comes a free market approach focused on promotion of competition, innovation and labour market outcomes. This will present opportunities for those who are prepared to capitalize on this direction and create challenges for those who are not ready.
